Dream: Black Ghost Dog

I dreamt we were staying in some sort of resort in the mountains with K and my parents–a motel made of wood, perhaps.  Anyway, the second floor balcony was open air and there were some doors up there that were apparently used by ghosts.  I noticed a wheel down below that somehow controlled water flow between the two levels, and when I turned it, water came down from upstairs (or went up to upstairs?  …or just changed somehow), and a black dog appeared.  It charged at us, and we felt lucky that we were able to kill it by hanging it on a piece of black molding as it attacked.  At that point, we realized that we probably shouldn’t stay at that lodge anymore…

I know that water is often symbolic of spiritual energies; I wonder how it is relevant here…

Dream: Swimming

I had a pretty interesting dream about swimming.  I was in an Olympic-size pool, and swimming laps with a large group of other teenagers–I seemed to be in high school or my first couple years of college.  They were teasing me because I was having a difficult time…

Later, I was at a stand near the pool, selecting from about 6 different colorful, plastic objects.  They each had a simple mechanism that would assist in learning the different swimming strokes.  Some were extremely complicated and too advanced for me, while others seemed too simple, somehow.  After I chose, a snail (!) grabbed my trunks and I chased it until it disappeared down the drain.  How strange!

Dream: Pirates

It has been a long time since I’ve posted last, due mostly to the fact that I’ve been pre-occupied with houseguests. However, they have now departed, and I’m able to better re-focus my efforts on various aspects of self-awareness. Yay!

Last night I dreamt of pirates–that I was aboard a ship in the Caribbean (?) or perhaps the far north of Scandinavia with a group of violent, dirty and loud thugs, criminals, heroes and villains. However, I’m not sure if I was a member of the crew, passenger or observer. I do know that there was a small group of people who were peaceful and clean, only looking for safe passage to some destination that was far, far away. Perhaps I was one of those… In any case, one of them stole a dead octopus that was killed by one of the crew with the goal of depositing it in the Captain’s bunk as a prank. Instead, he threw it at one of the passengers he met on a narrow stair. The small girl shrieked, startled, and chased after him. Later, they confided that they needed all the passengers to keep their heads to try to make sure the pirate crew does not doom the journey home…

Because water often has spiritual connotations, perhaps this dream could represent the dangers of the journey towards enlightenment?

I actually documented parts of three dreams last night, though the pirate one was the most interesting/extensive so that is the one I included here. It has been a while since I’ve been able to remember 3 dreams, perhaps because of the houseguests, but I also listened to binaural beat tracks last night for the first time. That may have something to do with it as well. They do have some very interesting effects… I’ll be creating a technique post regarding binaural beats sometime over the next few days…

Dream: Swimming

Last night I dreamt of swimming…as an army cadet. I was also listening to music, which may have been adjusted for mind-control purposes. I know that I wanted to analyze it in more detail.

Strange…It’s not often that I dream of swimming, but I take that as a good sign, as it often indicates “submersion in one’s spiritual search”, which makes sense, given all of the yoga and meditation that I’ve been doing recently. I’m not quite sure why I would be in the army; my father always said that I’d “make a terrible marine”, because I always ask questions when I’m told to do something. The ‘mind control’ music may be related to the fact that I’ve listened to Binaural Beat music in the past, and know quite a bit about it. I’ll have to post on that as a technique later on…

Dream: Gophers

Last night I dreamt I was in my grandparents’ backyard with my parents, helping them get rid of a gopher problem. I could feel their tunnels underground by stomping on the dirt and feeling the tunnels collapse underneath. I distinctly remember the soil to be quite sandy… After I collapsed most of the tunnels, I thought it would be a good idea to flood the yard with water (using the garden hose), to collapse and seal the remainder of the tunnels.

This worked, but somehow I had gotten water on an antique monopoly board I had been wanting to save, as well as my dream journal (hard-copy) that I had been wanting to protect. Most of the information was still present, but I was very annoyed that I had damaged them.

According to the dream dictionary, gophers can represent “multiple tentative starts”. I am trying to be more persistent with my recollection of dreams, and the upkeep of this blog, so that makes a lot of sense. Especially since I did not recall any dreams the previous night (the first time in months!), and I was alerted to the necessity of keeping up with this project. Interesting…
