Exercise: The Watcher at Tor House & Hawk Tower

A couple of days ago, I had the opportunity to practice exteriorizing astral substance, using Denning & Phillips’ method, described as ‘The Watcher’. Essentially, the idea is to stimulate chakra activity, then sense astral substance leaving your solar plexus to materialize into some neutral shape (e.g., a sphere) in front of you. Then, impress upon it a goal and a set time of return. At the time of return, reintegrate the astral substance, and allow the new impressions to come to mind as a type of free association. I do this exercise from time to time to gain experience interacting with the world at a number of different levels of reality and consciousness…

I visited the Tor House on the California Central Coast for the first time a few days ago, and I thought it would be interesting to send the watcher there beforehand to test the accuracy of its impressions. The Tor house was built by poet Robinson Jeffers in the early part of the 20th century using the stones he found on the beach, the stones he carried from the beach, the stones he masoned fittingly himself; it also includes “Hawk Tower”, and is a fascinating place; I think I want a tower too! Some very useful information is given at this website about the house and the poet…

Anyway, the night before I sent the watcher to the Tor House, and upon re-integration, I did see some things that I didn’t expect to see, but did confirm during my visit–especially the plethora of woodworking. However, I do think that I need quite a bit more practice at this technique, because my perception from the Watcher’s experience were not clear enough to record in enough detail to warrant accurate testing.

If anyone has suggestions for different places (or people) I should send the Watcher to observe, I am open to suggestions…

Dream: Hooligans

Last night I dreamt of a time when I was living with my parents, and hooligans were putting graffiti on our mailbox and sidewalk outside of the house. I wanted to go after them, but couldn’t for some reason. Time also seemed to be warped in this dream, because I was also older, with furniture that we have now, and I wanted to replace. I couldn’t because I felt threatened by these hooligans; and also threatened by what would become of me if I did something *bad* to them. Strange…

A few years ago I read ‘The Celestine Prophecy’, by J. Redfield. As a work of fiction, the book is rather terrible, but the roadmap of 9 (or more?) insights on the way to enlightenment that it presents is quite intriguing. I’m now starting to use the experiential guide–The first insight focuses on ‘coincidences’ that are indicative of spiritual forces that lead lives to productive ends. This is related by synchronicity in Jungian psychology… Anyway, it is interesting to think about the different ways life seems to fall together to lead us in unexpectedly productive directions.

More updates on this to follow…

Dream: California Burning

Last night I dreamt of the California wildfires, and my parents’ house. Somehow, J was responsible for the fire, and had also disabled the alarm system in the room I was staying in. It wasn’t an unpleasant dream though, because my old pet Natasha was there, enjoying the rubs I was giving to her. When J came in the room, she didn’t want to be around her. I was rather annoyed though, because I would have to replace a lot of the bindings on the books in my room due to smoke damage.

Given the fires in CA and droughts in the Southeast, increased hurricane destruction and radical climate change in general, I am reminded of lyrics from Neurosis‘ album “Enemy of the Sun”:

We are facing a dangerous period ahead
If we do not change and
Start correcting some of these wrongdoings now
We are all going to suffer
Either the things that we make will overtake us
Or Nature will take over

Earthquakes, floods, rain
Severe droughts, severe winters
Lightning destruction, great wind destruction

These things will warn us that
We are not following the law of the Great Spirit

Dream: Family in the fog

Last night I only remembered part of one dream…  I dreamt I was living with my parents, and my sister J was throwing a hissy-fit about something to do with college.  I remember being in the back yard to try to be away from it all.  It was wintertime and foggy.  My father had also just come home, and had had a bad day at work.  My mother was also having health issues, so everyone was on-edge.  Hmmm… not much plot here; there was just some conversation between me and my parents about movies, and maybe the internet, although K was there too…

Quite a foggy dream, anyway.  Hopefully more of it will come to me later; that happens sometimes…

Telepathy & Natural Disasters?

I was able to document two dreams last night in detail…

Telepathy

In the first dream, I seemed have telepathic abilities. I could read minds by observing patterns in others’ aura. But only if they would let me, so there seemed to be moral (karmic?) implications of looking into the patterns of another’s life. This is actually an ability that I’m just starting to develop (slowly). In the electronic resources page, I’ve posted a link to one meditation exercise that I’m using. For those that may be interested, you can also get to it by clicking here.

I especially noticed if a person’s crown chakra was not functioning; they seemed to be incomplete. Not everyone in the dream had this ability; it seemed that one of my functions was to aid in others’ development, if they were willing. At one point, I was in a room with my family (watching TV, how stimulating!), and I remember talking to my Uncle about energy balances, but he was uncomfortable whenever I brought it up. Obviously, these issues individuals must come to understand for themselves within the context of their own way of thinking, feeling and being…

Natural Disaster!

In the second dream, the time period seems to be several years ago; I was eating out with my parents and sister in California. They were fighting about the fact that she will have to start high school soon (J has now graduated college), and we drove off. I mentioned that I-5 (the main North-South corridor between Los Angeles and San Francisco) was closed to all but military traffic. We also saw a lot of military vehicles on the roads we were on (which were quite strange and unfamiliar). As we drove, we also passed these huge transport trucks carrying live pigs and cows in great mounds. I pointed out that that’s going to be a lot of hamburger for someone! I seemed to have the impression that we were observing some sort of humanitarian mission by the government to aid a large population that had been displaced. …also that this strategy was clearly another example of the folly of governmental bureaucracy. Possibly this was due to a disaster like a major S. California earthquake? That specific event I didn’t dream of; only the aftermath. I may have just been observing the effects of overpopulation, but I have a feeling that something major had occurred in the days previous to the dream time-frame. Also, along the road there were vendors of all kinds trying to sell random gadgets and trinkets to us, and anyone else who came along.

I should note that this may be relevant to the fact that both K and I are vegetarian. For those interested in a clarification of the meaning of the term, this is a decent site to visit for fast answers. …but not fast food; I should remark that I believe the fast food industry to be deplorable, both in terms of health and morality. It is a virus in our society, and a cancer of our planet. McDonald’s is frequently the focus of controversy (e.g., the movie, “Super Size Me”, and also especially the “McLibel Trial”, and surrounding events), but this is really a societal problem, and we are all to blame in one way or another. I shall post on this issue in greater detail elsewhere…
