Dream: Hooligans
Last night I dreamt of a time when I was living with my parents, and hooligans were putting graffiti on our mailbox and sidewalk outside of the house. I wanted to go after them, but couldn’t for some reason. Time also seemed to be warped in this dream, because I was also older, with furniture that we have now, and I wanted to replace. I couldn’t because I felt threatened by these hooligans; and also threatened by what would become of me if I did something *bad* to them. Strange…
A few years ago I read ‘The Celestine Prophecy’, by J. Redfield. As a work of fiction, the book is rather terrible, but the roadmap of 9 (or more?) insights on the way to enlightenment that it presents is quite intriguing. I’m now starting to use the experiential guide–The first insight focuses on ‘coincidences’ that are indicative of spiritual forces that lead lives to productive ends. This is related by synchronicity in Jungian psychology… Anyway, it is interesting to think about the different ways life seems to fall together to lead us in unexpectedly productive directions.
More updates on this to follow…

That series of books, while as you said were not the greatest, at least did introduce such concepts into the noosphere - I began to recognize synchronicity and now that awareness is one of the ways I like to think of ‘communicating’ with the Tao or universal energy. In a sense - it has a consciousness and if we allow it to, it can create avenues of learning or opportunity.

I agree that Redfield has played an important role in communicating (rather than innovating) a number of important concepts that many others would do well to realize.
The idea that the Tao has a consciousness is very interesting, Angela. In what ways do you think communication is possible? What methods might we attempt?
Mahalo for posting, Angela…

We always get out of a life experience exactly what we expect. That is, if anyone expects something to be terrible, then this is precisely what will be experienced.
James Redfield has been described as “thought-provoking.” I believe when we’re ready for new kinds of information or guidance, then it will present itself and we’ll recognize it. Though, how we react, whether or not we “take it in,” and how it affects our perspective overall, is all separate from the recognition of available information. This explains why each of us grows at our own pace.

I do think that your perspective is a healthy way of understanding progress, Liara. Thanks for posting it–much appreciated!

For myself, I understand this level of communication comes through synchronicity in daily life, to a large extent…meditation, just the art of being still, allows the mind to quiet so the ’spirit’ can be accessed, and there is where our connection with this universal consciousness takes place, as I understand it anyway - the void between the atoms, the quantum spaces - this is where spirit lies and what makes us realize we, and everything, are all made up of the same ’stuff’, subatomically. We must quiet our minds and pay attention at another level of being…certainly this is an art or skill we’re usually not taught, unfortunately, and must spend the time finding a way to understand it later in life if so desired. I believe creative endeavors, music, art, tai chi, yoga, etc are also great tools to find this place.

Thanks, Angela, for this very helpful response! I cannot help but notice that strange herbal supplements are not on your list of tools…
