Dream: Baseball

Last night (or this morning, actually. More on this in the next post…), I dreamt of playing baseball. I may have been in HS, playing in P.E. class, and was having a lot of fun. This is unusual, because I normally abhorred P.E., especially during this period of my life. In any case, I was the batter, and I was swinging a huge 38in/38oz aluminum bat that I used to have. I was hitting homeruns! :)

I looked up a few key terms in the dream dictionary, and it appears that this dream generally seems to be related to the attainment of goals. For instance, a bat (one of the foci of the dream) “relates to the condition and quality of one’s progression”. Similarly, a homerun can indicate attainment. Perhaps this is all related to the fact that I was up into the wee hours making very good progress on a program that simulates segregation in social situations…

  1. I like how you integrate images into your dream blog. Dictionaries may offer ideas about dream associations you hadn’t thought about. This can expand how you interpret.

At the same time, you can also evolve to read into the meaning of your dreams without books. Pick out the ideas and themes that seem most pronounced: i.e., school, bat, team, cooperation, game, homerun, winning/ success, ect.
Next, consider feelings and possible understandings in reality: i.e., “playing the field” (relationships), “fun” (you may be pleasantly surprised when having more of it), astonishment (consider triggers for revelations), energy (exert effort in key directions and experience progress).

  2. Liara,

Thanks for your insight, and you offer some good strategies. I added another post on baseball in general (as it is in the waking world anyway). I’m still thinking about how it may influence or be influenced by dream content.
