Dream: Kings and Queens

Last night I dreamt of the kings and queens, the power of royalty in a very abstract sense… All of the royal families of this part of the world seemed to be involved in a game of football (perhaps played on a chessboard??). Somehow, the game was being officiated by a Shakespearian scholar…. I was counseled not to leave the country because the economy was falling apart. All of the royalty feared the populist movements that was on the horizon…

This dream could be related to an article I read last night regarding the global economic dependence on oil. It stated that when oil supplies & production starts to flatline in a few years, transportation costs will skyrocket causing a fundamental shift in the way economies do business–suburban and countryside real estate will be devalued, and a new Great Depression will commence, accompanied by a new World War, with China the belligerent, as a new economy motivated to grow, and Europe, Japan and the United States as the “allies” motivated to defend their existing economic structure and interests. Russia would be the “wild card” sitting on the side with oil reserves of its own. Strange… Perhaps the world really will come to an end in 2012 as the Mayans predicted?

  1. Some people don’t believe 2012 will bring the end of the world per se. Even if this date brings an end to the world as we know it, the state energy flow of this world is in constant flux, so change itself is predictable.

Kings and queens portray intriging symbols. Two issues to consider may be are you projecting ambitious visions of power from within or, are you raring for a hot card game?

  2. Hi Liara,

The symbolism of royalty is definitely interesting, and not to be ignored. …I think I had the feeling of being a pawn in some sort of chess game being played on several dimensional levels. At one level, the game appeared to be football(!); and at another, I think it resembled what we normally call ‘real life’. I seemed to be perceiving strategy, advice, and others’ interpretations from several of these levels at the same time. A very strange experience!

I do not believe that I have ambitions of worldly grandeur, at least not explicit ones at this point… I definitely have never had any interest in visiting Las Vegas!

  3. I have heard, and mostly agree with, at least one individual who theorizes that the world will be dependent on fossil fuels only until they run short. At this point new technologies will jump off the market much faster than anticipated. There are many solutions just waiting for the machine of the oil market to wear down… Many people waiting to capitalize on the leading energy technologies of the future.

This is not to say, of course, that the stagnation of the oil industry won’t create great tensions between previously oil-rich nations as the supplies run short. Human beings tend to lose our better senses when we see our material possessions (or source of income resulting in material possessions) dwindling off. It’s too bad those of us intelligent enough to become the moguls of today, often times don’t have the insight required to view material possessions for what they truly are…

  4. Aloha Myrmior, thanks for posting…

There are so many aspects of the way the global economy works that make me sad. …and I agree that when fossil fuels do run short, this will certainly stimulate the growth of new technologies. Hopefully we will be able to wait that long…

  5. The environmental issues going on today remind me of the “gas crunch” in the 1970s. People (even my parents)were willing to buy more fuel efficient vehicles and invest in solar power during that period. However, fast forward to 20-30 years later and those same people (my parents included) drive SUVs that they do not need and use more power in one month than we use in six months. They are in the midst of a drought and risk total water loss to the city within 30-90 days and complain about not being able to water the lawn…

People tend to change only when it is necessary but often go back to doing what is easiest for them when the situation changes. It would appear that the only way to get people to change is to make the system easier and more accessible for people.

  6. Perhaps people will take environmental issues more seriously when they have to swim to commute to major coastal cities…

  7. I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Kings and Queens | MyBleam.com Dream Blog, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
