Dream: Tour de France

Last night I dreamt of the Tour de France. I, and my former college roommate, J (who is a Frenchman), were participants. Not long after the race began, we discovered that all other riders except us and one other were disqualified, so as long as we finished the race, we would place in the top 3! I ended up placing 3rd, and J 2nd. I also could somehow see the TV coverage of the race, where they had artistically rendered many aspects of our lives, including my studies, notes and journals. That was rather odd. In any case, when we got to the podium, the winner and J made speeches, but they ‘didn’t have time’ for me. I supposed it was because I wasn’t enough of a Francophile for their taste. I wasn’t really upset; I was just happy to have the experience…

The dream dictionary states that France can represent the “inner strength” to fight for one’s rights/freedom. Also, a bicycle can denote “mental, physical, or spiritual balance”. So, I suppose I would interpret this dream as a positive commentary on my current efforts towards self-awareness…

  1. Its encouraging to sense uplifting themes in your dreams. SOunds like you reinforce and invite more positive experiences in waking life. Did you have any links to France before this dream? What about sport? Someone you meet someone from a place you dream about or, whetehr or not you visit there or, even imagine living there, can all mean things. All these kinds of details can strengthen the significance of dreams.

  2. That is true, I do try to fold as much positivity into both dream and waking experiences. I am also giving effort to blurring the line between the two…

…and, actually, I did visit J in France for about 3 weeks several years ago. It was a great experience, and at some point I’d like to go back and visit more. There are so many other places I’d like to travel as well, though! I’ve never bicycled very much, though I did follow the Tour off and on, especially when Lance Armstrong was winning it. I’m tempted to interpret it’s appearance in my dream as a reflection on the need for inner balance. At least for now…

  3. Maybe your dream was trying to tell you to talk to J since you haven’t talked to him in a long time. :P
